I don't even remember the date we did this. It was after the Tornado that went through Tuscaloosa Al and on to other parts of Alabama and Georgia. Patrick, Katharyn, and I went, with our church, to an area right outside of Birmingham. It was an unreal experience. You can't imagine the devastation that was there. It looked like a bomp went off in every home. So many people were there helping. One church group was from Enterprise Al, that was hit a few years earlier remembered how people from Birmingham came to help them... So, they were there returning that service that was offered to them. No one wants to live through that devastation, but the lessons learned and the community that comes together isn't seen until events like this happen. To see so many helping and pulling together and working together like they have known you a lifetime is amazing. It was a great experience for Katharyn. She worked so hard and was so happy to help. We worked for 2 days just taking trees to the end of the road. Not much when you think of the magnitude of all the other jobs that needed to be done. It was like we picked up a few toothpicks off the floor. But, that weekend alone 1000 job orders were done. Since this time another series of Tornadoes hit other areas of the country.
This same system that went through Tuscaloosa went through Pine Mountain--causing 2 trees to fall through my grandmother's home. It's being rebuilt/fixed or whatever you want to call it.

I am sorry to hear about your Grandmother's home. I hope that she didn't have everything destroyed.
Around Christmas I started planning our little trip through Tuscaloosa this summer to get pictures and show my kids where I lived until moving to GA. I was heartbroken when the tornados came through - the little house I lived in as a baby was destroyed. My main purpose for the trip was to get pictures of it! It is still hard to believe how something can be there one minute, and just gone the next.
Our prayers are with all of you!
