CICU--HOSPITALS--WAITING ROOMS

The past few days we've been in Tampa--Home of my Husband.
Yes I took him away from his home in Florida and made him move FAR away.
Anyway, his brother (not married) still lives here along with his grandmother/aunts/uncles/cousins. We got a call from his brother saying that he was in the hospital. His kidneys were functioning at 20% and his foot was infected along with being diabetic and having high blood pressure.
So off we go to the beautiful state of Florida.
We spent the first day in the waiting room at the hospital while Diane (patrick's mom) and Patrick were in the room with Terry (Bro). His kidney function dropped some more and his oxygen level dropped. During the night he was moved to the CICU and put on a BI-PAP
(bi-pap--used for critically ill patients in respiratory failure--used before intubation.)

In order to visit someone in ICU you have to be 12 or older. Half of my children have reached that the other half has not. So, the girls and I spent the day in the hotel room while Diane and Patrick stayed with Terry. This morning we got the news that he was off the BI-PAP machine and breathing on his own which is great.

So, now we (the girls, patrick and myself) are returning home today and leaving Diane here to stay with a friend until Terry is back home.

So here is the reason for my post today. I was able to contact the missionaries here in Tampa/Brandon and they were able to meet Patrick at the hospital to give him a blessing. I was able to contact the bishop and relief society president just to let them know that Diane was here and we were leaving her here. I'm not sure what is going to happen but it is very nice to be able to have the 'gospel network' so that if something does happen we have names and numbers of others that can help if we need it. They were very nice and caring. The Bishop immediately asked if we had any needs at the moment. Nothing for now, and I hope that we won't need anything. I hope that everything runs smoothly and that Terry recovers quickly and can go home. It is a HUGE comfort to know that no matter where we go there is someone that we can contact.

Well, we are now back in the waiting room where there is internet. The waiting room is very quiet and low lit. The kind of low light that hurts your eyes when you are looking at anything. patrick and diane are back with Terry now. Anna wants to be 12 so that she can go see her uncle! Kat is fine just sitting here playing on her ipod. I'm thankful that they are quietly doing something and I only here I'm bored every 10 minutes. Better than every other minute!

We will get Diane settled with her friend--hopefully Diane can drive Terry's car--or she'll be really stuck. I guess all of that will be taken care of somehow.

Our prayers are with Patrick and your family. You guys take care.

What a great blessing that there is such a strong bond and network of other Church members just about everywhere we turn. I am so glad you thought of asking the Missionaries for help - I know they are grateful for that opportunity. Amazing!

I am most grateful for a daughter-in-law who is knowledgeable, caring, and very strong in her faith as a Child of God.

I am grateful for my friend Bea Johnson. The most caring person I know.

I am grateful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. For the brothers and sisters that give each other such strength and courage.
