Yesteray Got me Thinking!!!

Being around pregnant mothers makes me remember back to the
birth of my first child, I imagined her dark brown eyes and dark hair.
She would be the spitting image of her mother. It was me, that carried her forever before going through Labor to bring her into this world. She would only see to it that
she looked like me. What a shock it was to see this blue eyed blonde in my arms.
What in the world. She looked like her father!!!!
Now he was thrilled! Jumping up and down for joy when he heard the
Dr. say... I see blonde hair. But oh how I loved her.
It didn't matter to me what she looked like.
Even if she was the spitting image of her dad.
Who knew he'd be such a pretty girl!!!! :)
Our next child was born...3 years and 9 months later. Here I was again wondering what she would look like. I figured it would be another blue eyed blonde. Obviously my husbands genes are just too strong to be overpowered!!! I gave up the idea of a child resembling their mother.I was resolved at the idea that it was okay to have very dark brown hair with blonde children.
It was okay if I looked like a step mother. No big deal. Right.
Then the Dr. said... I see brown hair. And Anna Leigh was born.
Who knew that the Lord would grant me the wish to have a child that looked like me.

When I was 26 we realized that our family was complete.
I always wondered what my little boys would look like.
I can only imagine that one would be the spitting image of his dad.
This little blonde headed boy with chubby droopy cheeks.
And then another little boy with brown hair and chocolate eyes.
I see them running around having fun saying mama and daddy.
I guess one day that dream will be realized, though not in this life.
I am so grateful for the little girls that I have.
And I know now that the gift that we received was
A little girl that looked like her father
&
A little girl that looked like her mother!

i can't believe how much anna looks like you in that picture!! i know things don't always turn out the way we plan, but i guess we do need to be thankful for what it teaches us?! You probably would have ended up with 4 girls!!

love you.

I knew that Kat looked like Patrick and Anna looked like you, but didn't realize just how strong the resemblance is!!! I know you alway imagined you would have more than two children and I didn't imagine that I would have as many as I do. Guess it goes to show you that we are definetly NOT in control of things! You are truly blessed. They are such precious girls and I had tears in my eyes reading your post. We're blessed to count you among our friends!

Amen! I am amazed that Jax looks identical to Dan and that Leah is my clone...but their personalities are so reversed...really...amazing. I love it.

I see some families (like Katie's kids) that don't even really look related to anyone...and then other families that look like they were made in the same mold. Just so neat and kind of cool if you ask me...
