There is a lady at work who is pregnant with her first child. She and her husband didn't know if they would be able to have children. Well, she's almost ready and we are having a baby shower for her at work. Well, They don't know if it's a girl or a boy. My para's and I did a home-made gift. The para made a beautiful quilt, so I thought I'd make an outfit for a girl and one for a boy.
The little girl dress was so sweet. I shadow embroidered a baby buggy. (so sweet) And for the boy's outfit I shadow embroidered a duck pull toy. Very cute. By 2:00 AM I had sewn the sleeve inside out, the pants inside out, cut a whole in the back, put the snaps around the cuff of the pants and hmmm there has to be something else I did wrong. IT WAS HORRIBLE. I can't give this to her. Well I don't have time to make another one so a note will be attached that another outfit will be made to replace this one (though it looks adorable when not looking with a magnifying glass). Needless to say I didn't put anymore snaps on at the crotch (I didn't want to waste them)... Nope, I stapled it shut. How pathetic is that.

oh my...I am laughing so hard. kimberly, kimberly. i can so see this happening. i bet there was a *bit* of cursing going on at the same time. i did that when i made abby's easter dress. it was 2 am the day her pictures were being taken and i managed to sew the french seam inside out THREE TIMES! i cried, i cursed, then i went to bed.
I am such a disappointment to my Grandmother. I never even TRY sewing anything (except a make-shift valance where you don't ever see any seams)! Now that's pathetic! I've seen what you can do and you're awesome. How sweet that you would take the time to make something for this girl. But I think Jennifer is right.....there had to be some colorful language going on that night! You know there would have been at my house!
I knew sewing was overrated years ago - when are you going to join the bandwagon??? Get some sleep :-) Hope work is going well!!! Love, Wren
I do the same thing when putting Ikea furniture together! Or anything that you have to assemble. When I'm done, I step back and see how I attached a piece that has the raw wood exposed somewhere that would require me to take the whole thing apart to fix. You can't just leave it b/c it looks terrible. I'm tempted to just let it be.
I was very tempted to just finish it and give it to her....
But, then your name is attached to it and It can't be half done. IT'S CRAZY!!!!
If it were for me I would have left it. That is soooo sad.
This was so funny...sorry. I always have good intentions and assume I have all types of crafty know-how and end up in a boat like this more often than naught! :)
